Speaking from the heart, Kimberley will share her story of how she began using alcohol and drugs at an early age to cope with her anger and shame. What began as an escape from reality quickly escalated into a criminal lifestyle with no support from family or friends, and resulted in over 12 years spent in the justice system.
Kimberley was released over 10 years ago and hasn't looked back since. She obtained her Peer Support Certificate in 2009 and has advanced in her career, holding a leadership position where she now develops programs and educates the community on reducing barriers to success for justice involved individuals.
Kimberley Koenig has over 10 years experience in behavioral health and human services. While currently employed as a Community Programs Manager with CHEEERS Recovery Center, she is also a full-time student pursuing a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership.
Her extensive professional background and lived-experience give her a unique skill set, which she successfully utilizes through meaningful relationships with individuals of varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Kimberley is well-versed in public speaking and is an upcoming published author.
